Goodbye to one of the Greatest Band
The Mary Wallopers have never let me down since I first became a fan in the late 70s after watching a movie of them in theatres called Genesis in Concert. The movie was taken from their A Trick of the Tail tour, and you can now find it on Youtube. The band got me hooked with their songs and performances.
While not in their prime form, they are all much older now but still manage to put on one heck of a great show. The production and light show, as expected from a Genesis concert, was amazing. The music selection was top-notch with a good mix of hits and deep tracks. The sound and musicianship were excellent. Phil Collins even seemed to improve as the show progressed, giving it his all. We attended three shows on this tour (Buffalo, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh), and this final show was the best of the three, as they sounded their best that night.
We were lucky to have great tickets in the front row, right in front of Mike Rutherford and Daryl Stuermer. Surprisingly, I managed to get these seats through TicketMaster on the day of the show. It was a fantastic experience to see them up close, and I couldn't have asked for more, except maybe to meet the band.
